About Tea

Tea is a beverage that contains caffeine, an infusion made by brewing the dried leaves, shoots, or petioles of the Camellia sinensis plant in hot water. Teas derived from the tea plant are divided into four groups: black teas, oolong teas, green teas, and white teas.

The term “tea” is also used for beverages made from brewed fruit, spices or other medicinal plants, such as rosehip, chamomile, chrysanthemum and jiaogulan teas. Teas that do not contain tea leaves are called herbal teas.

Tea is a natural source of caffeine, theophylline, and antioxidants with levels of fat, carbohydrates or protein close to zero percent. The slightly bitter taste of tea is a distinct pleasure of tea. Flower tea with a mixture of jasmine flower buds called jasmine tea or jasmine fragrant tea is the most popular type of tea in Indonesia. Tea consumption in Indonesia is 0.8 kilograms per capita per year, still far below other countries in the world, even though Indonesia is the fifth largest tea producing country in the world.
